Discovery Museum Welcomes Dr. J. Kevin Nugent to its Board

Acton, MA – Discovery Museum is pleased to welcome to its Board of Directors J. Kevin Nugent, Ph.D.

Dr. Nugent is Founder and Director of the Brazelton Institute in the Division of Developmental Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst; and Lecturer in Psychology at Harvard Medical School. He has worked at Boston Children’s Hospital since 1978, teaching and conducting research on newborn behavior and early parent-infant relations.

A Series of Simple Machines: a da Vinci-inspired Workshop Series for ages 9-12

Join us in the Discovery Museum’s da Vinci Workshop for an exciting new program series based on simple machines. Leonardo da Vinci—scientist, artist, and inventor—envisioned numerous mechanical inventions, many of which contained “simple machines.” We’ll explore some of da Vinci’s creations while engaging in simple design challenges and building contraptions of our own.

Canceled --Halloween Trail Walk and Treasure Hunt

Get dressed up in your Halloween costumes and take a walk through the woods with us. We’ll be using a trail map and compass to discover treats along the way. This program is weather and conditions dependent. Please note that the conservation land trails are not ADA or stroller accessible; please wear appropriate footwear and clothing. Discovery Museum presents Discovery Gala 2019: Play It Forward

ACTON, MA – Discovery Museum will host its annual fundraising event, Discovery Gala 2019: Play It Forward, on October 5, 2019 at the Discovery Museum. Supporters are invited to “wear your jeans and bring your curiosity” for a grown-ups only evening of creative cocktails, playful cuisine, and abundant fun. Proceeds will support access programs for families and schools that make the Museum welcoming and accessible to everyone.

Celebrate Take a Child Outside Week! Fall Plant Walk with PrimiTim

Come take a walk with “PrimiTim” as he teaches us ways to identify autumn plants.
