Our philosophy starts with the simple belief that kids are capable of incredible things. Our job is to nurture that ability; our goal is to support kids' healthy development. Play is how kids learn--here, it is in both a STEM-rich environment and inviting outdoor experience.

Rachel Danford, PhD, Outdoor and Environmental Educator
The Discovery Museum is more than just a place to visit. It’s a community of people—visitors, staff, volunteers, and partners—who all work together to bring our unique learning experiences to life.
Our dedicated staff members, including Outdoor and Environmental Educator Rachel Danford, are all passionate about sparking children’s curiosity and encouraging playful exploration.
“I joined Discovery Museum after completing my PhD in Environmental Conservation and Policy at UMass-Amherst. My passion has always been to provide opportunities for people to connect with nature, and I get to do that every day at the museum! I love how easy it is for children to engage with nature, and how they show me new and amazing things about the outside world at every program!”
