Job Title: Event and Sponsorship Manager
Reports to: Senior Director of Development
Schedule: 15 hours per week
Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20-$22 per hour, no benefits
Position Overview
Discovery Museum in Acton, MA is seeking a part-time event and sponsorship manager to join our successful and collegial Development Office in planning and executing events, securing sponsorships, and managing sponsor relationships to meet fundraising or revenue goals. This new position will identify and approach potential sponsors, steward existing sponsors, and assist with event logistics. This role requires a mix of sales, project management, and communication skills. This part-time role with flexible hours will begin in January 2026 and can have the potential to be hybrid.
Key responsibilities
- Manage our current sponsorship program in coordination with Senior Director of Development.
- Identify, research, and solicit potential and existing sponsors.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective sponsors by providing exceptional customer service to event sponsors by answering questions and anticipating needs.
- Develop and present customized sponsorship proposals.
- Maintain detailed and accurate sponsor information, including contracts, deliverables, agreements and updates.
- Work with Development team to plan and execute development events, including special events and fundraisers.
- Coordinate with vendors, including registration sites, caterers, and technical support.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficient in Excel and basic MS Office skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan projects and then implement them to success
- Comfort with being front-facing with visitors, donors, and sponsors
- A commitment to ethical behavior
- Clear and professional demeanor and communications skills
- Must be able to attend evening and weekend events (less than 10 per year)
- All positions at Discovery Museum require a satisfactory Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check
- Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs, constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, and lift up to 25 lbs
