Job Title:  Event and Sponsorship Manager

Reports to:  Senior Director of Development 

Schedule: 15 hours per week  

Classification:  Hourly Non-Exempt

Compensation:  $18.00-19.50 per hour, no benefits

 

Position Overview 

Discovery Museum in Acton, MA is seeking a part-time event and sponsorship manager to assist the Development Office in planning and executing events, securing sponsorships, and managing sponsor relationships to meet fundraising or revenue goals. Key duties include building on existing relationships as well as identifying and approaching potential new sponsors, negotiating agreements, managing events within stated budgets and logistics, and ensuring sponsor commitments are fulfilled. This role requires a strong mix of sales, marketing, project management, and communication skills. This part-time role with flexible hours will begin in January 2026 and can have the potential to be hybrid.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the sponsor acquisition program, including developing sponsor packages and content in coordination with Senior Director of Development.
  • Identify, research, and solicit potential sponsors.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective sponsors by providing exceptional customer service to event sponsors by answering questions and anticipating needs.
  • Develop and present customized sponsorship proposals.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate sponsor information, including contracts, deliverables, agreements, and updates.
  • Ensure all sponsor commitments are met and deliver reports on sponsorship performance.
  • Work with Development team to plan and execute development events, including special events and fundraisers.
  • Develop event briefs, budgets, and project plans.
  • Manage all event logistics, such as venue, staffing, and suppliers.
  • Coordinate with vendors, including registration sites, caterers, and technical support. 

Qualifications and Requirements 

  • A solid comfort working with databases, data, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to plan projects and then implement them to success
  • Comfort with being front facing with visitors, donors, and sponsors
  • A commitment to ethical behavior
  • Clear and professional demeanor and communications skills are essential
  • Discretion in the handling of confidential information
  • Must be able to attend evening and weekend events (less than 10 per year)
  • Experience in development / fundraising or customer service is a plus
  • Proficient in Excel and basic MS Office skills
  • All positions at Discovery Museum require a satisfactory Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check
  • Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs, constantly operate a computer and other office productivity equipment, and lift up to 25 lbs.
