Discovery Museum is pleased to welcome Jose “Joey” A. Rivera and Xuan Kong to its Board of Directors.
Jose “Joey” A. Rivera is Director of Finance at National Grid, responsible for the financial support and performance of Corporate Functions (HR, Legal, Finance, Corp Affairs, etc.). Joey recently moved to the area from Chicago, where he previously led teams in Corporate Development, Nuclear Generation, Treasury, and Corporate Finance for Exelon, the nation’s largest regulated utility and the largest operator of nuclear power plants in the U.S. Joey is a former Captain/Ranger in the military, with combat deployments to Afghanistan and in support of other humanitarian relief operations.
Joey earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, and an M.S. in Finance and an MBA from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business with Beta Gamma Sigma honors. Joey and his wife have two young children who are already big fans of the Discovery Museum.
Xuan Kong is Chief Data Scientist at NEUROMetrix Inc., where he leads the company’s data science initiative to deliver personalized and clinically optimized pain relief and health experience for chronic pain sufferers. He has published numerous papers in leading signal processing, biomedical engineering, and clinical neurophysiology journals. Xuan has been awarded twenty U.S. and foreign patents. Prior to joining NEUROMetrix, Xuan was an Associate Professor at Northern Illinois University. Xuan is currently a member of Discovery Museum’s Science and Technology Advisory Council and a member of the Acton Volunteer Coordinating Committee; he was elected to two terms as a member of the Acton-Boxborough Regional School Committee, and previously served as a board member for ActonTV, the Chinese Language School, and the Acton Chinese American Civic Society.
Xuan received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University and MBA from Boston University. He is certified as professional risk manager by PRMIA. He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of Eta Kappa Nu and Beta Gamma Sigma.
